As one comedian who was at the debate described it: "It started out a debate and turned into an e-Harmony commercial. Obama became everything Hillary wished Bill could be."
One question that is getting a lot of attention is the issue of choosing each other as vice president:
Both were asked about the possibility of a "dream ticket" of Clinton-Obama — or Obama-Clinton.
"Obviously there's a big difference between those two," Obama said. "I respect Senator Clinton, I think her service to this country is extraordinary." But he said, "We've got a lot more road to travel" before such a decision. Pressed for an answer, he ended with, "I'm sure Hillary would be on anybody's short list."
Posed the same question, Clinton laughed and responded, "Well, I have to agree with everything Barack just said." She said she agreed it was too early to discuss running mates.
If Hillary wins the nomination, I think it's highly likely that Obama would accept a VP slot. He's still young enough that he can afford to wait eight years for another shot. Hillary is another story, however. At 60 years old she can't afford to stand by for eight years and run again when she's 68. If Obama wins the nomination, I think Hillary will just return to the Senate and try to knock Harry Reid out of the Majority Leader's position. Anything for power.
