A Special HolyCoast.com ON THE AIR Interview

In the post below you'll find the player for a special interview I broadcast this morning with Sheriff Mark Gilliam from Aransas County, TX. We took this shot with Mark during a quartet trip to Rockport, TX in 2000 (Mark's in the blue jacket):
Mark was still with the Rockport PD at the time, but later that year was elected Sheriff of Aransas County, and on March 4th will be running for a third term in the Republican primary. There is no Democrat candidate for the office, so whoever wins the primary wins the office. Mark has two opponents in a tough primary race.

With all the emphasis on national races we sometimes forget that there are a lot of local contests going on at the same time, and for many Americans, the local Sheriff may actually have more direct effect on their lives than the president or their congressman. Local races are very important.

I did a phone interview with Mark in which we talked about the state of the race in the Texas 14th congressional district where Rockport is located and where Ron Paul is fighting for reelection, and of course, we spent most of the time talking about what's going on with the Sheriff's Department in Aransas County and his accomplishments during his eight years in the job. You can give it a listen by clicking on the player in the post below.
