May Day Bust

I'm watching the parade of illegal immigrants in Los Angeles on TV right now and it appears the event is largely a bust. The organizers told the police to expect 20,000 to 100,000 marchers. The count that just came from the media is less than 10,000.

Can they get enough illegals to show up to march? No se pueda. A few years ago they had 500,000 people waving Mexican flags. Maybe the crackdown on illegal immigration has thinned the crowd a bit.

Meanwhile a bunch of dockworkers in West Coast ports stayed home today supposedly to protest the war. Nonsense. This was nothing more than a union celebration of International Workers Day, a communist holiday. The union leaders used the war as an excuse to keep from coming out and proclaiming themselves communists.

And, there's a contract dispute going on. Based on the sheepish responses from the workers about why they were striking, it looks to me like the union organizers decided to hide behind the war to conduct a job action. Poor form.

Not a great day for the workers and illegal immigrants of the world.
