At least Solis Doyle isn't a "whitey".The Obama campaign announces Patti Solis Doyle will be Chief of Staff to the Vice Presidential Nominee. Solis Doyle, Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign manager, was last in the news when Sen. Clinton showed her the door back in February. The New York Times asks if this means "Obama is really considering Mrs. Clinton for the No. 2 position, and wants to have an ally of her in place to ease the way? Perhaps."
I would argue the opposite. Clinton and she parted ways in February. If anything this appointment could be seen as questioning Clinton's judgment for having fired her.Another interesting addition: Stephanie Cutter -- who, as the communications director for the erstwhile campaign of Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., in 2004, knows from spouses getting unwanted headlines -- will serve as Senior Advisor to the Campaign and Chief of Staff to Michelle Obama.
Some of the Clinton folks are not happy:
"You don't hire Patti Solis Doyle for her operational expertise. You don't do that. This is someone who failed dramatically at her job. You only bring her on to f*** someone else."
-- A "former Clinton bundler," quoted by the New York Observer, noting that "Clinton loyalists were livid over the pick."
