I'm crossing my fingers, but I think my Rockport, TX friends may dodge another one. Dolly which is expected to reach hurricane strength right before landfall, is heading toward the Texas/Mexico border, rather than a track a little further north that might have taken it right into Rockport.
A hurricane warning has been issued for Aransas County, where Rockport is located, but they may miss the worst of it. Rockport may get some of the outer bands with pretty stiff winds and rain, but nothing near hurricane force...I hope.
UPDATE: Since this was written the projected path has moved further south:
It looks like landfall will be as a Category 1 hurricane and will occur near the mouth of the Rio Grande. Good news for the friends in Aransas County.
UPDATE 2: Oops, it's wobbled back to the north a bit:
UPDATE 3: Good news. The hurricane warning for Aransas County has been cancelled and a new tropical storm warning is in effect. They'll get lots of wind and rain, but it doesn't look like they'll take the full force of the storm.
