Another Great Moment for KTLA Prime News

I recently ranted about the demise of the KTLA Prime News broadcast (Channel 5 in Los Angeles) since the death of their long, long time anchor Hal Fishman one year ago this month. I had been a viewer of that show nearly every night for probably 25 years, but the current make-up of the show makes it unwatchably dumb.

I made the mistake of turning the show on again tonight and within 15 seconds had to pause the TiVO to write this after anchor Leila Feinstein asked the dumbest question I've heard in a long time. Here's the transcript as I copied it down from the show:

Feinstein: "All day long it's been chaotic in Colorado, from protesters to a possible assassination plot. But what is it really like at the DNC? There's no one better to ask than Los Angeles national media writer James Rainey who is there right now. James, can you tell us what was it like on the convention floor when that possible assassination plot happened? Was there chaos in the convention hall?"

Rainey (looking somewhat astonished at the question): "Uhhh, no. There was far from chaos here. I think, you know, people heard about this. Word sort of filtered through the convention center, but people didn't think there was any real immediate danger to them or to Senator Obama. Really, you'd be surprised how little buzz there was about that."

Did I miss the moment where gunman marched into the Pepsi center looking for Obama? Aren't there any producers or editors left at KTLA?

Gee whiz, what a disaster that show has become.
