Hillary Clinton, resplendent in a neon orange pantsuit worthy of CalTrans (much safer when speaking at night), offered the minimum required support for Obama while making the speech pretty much about her. She gave probably the best campaign speech she's ever given, electrifying the crowd, and making them regret even more that they didn't make her the nominee or the VP. Both the Obamessiah and Joe Biden have their work cut out for them.
According to the pundits Hillary mentioned Obama 10 times, but as Charles Krauthammer pointed out, each mention was in connection with something she had done or believed in. Although she suggested that Michelle Obama would be a great first lady, she never said that Barack Obama would be a great president. As I said this morning, Hillary launched the 2012 campaign tonight.
She checked off the items she needed to check off in order to be considered a loyal Democrat, but there was no mistaking the underlying feeling that she's more interested in setting up 2012 than seeing Obama elected in 2008.
Tomorrow night - Bubba Clinton. Can he control himself? Nobody knows.
