If Nominated I Will Not Accept, If Elected I Will Not Serve

Those are the words of Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman when he was being considered as a possible Republican candidate for president in 1884. Those are also my words today in regards to this contest being run by the Orange County Register:

Mr. Metrosexual OC

When a man matches his shirt, with his belt, with his shoes, with his watch, he's a metrosexual. So The Orange County Register and "Daybreak OC" are celebrating the men in our lives who make vanilla lotion an imperative part of theirs. Submit a picture along with a short blurb on why he deserves the title of Mr. Metrosexual OC.

We'll accept nominees until noon, Sept. 1. Then, starting noon Sept. 2, you can vote at will. Five of the ten finalists candidates will be chosen by vote; five others will be picked by staff and/or a panel of professional metrosexuals. The winner's name will be drawn from a hat (probably a tight Pork Pie; possibly made of fine wool) and get the title and he'll be crowned on TV. Contest ends Sept. 15.

The photo editors may want to take another look at that shot. I'm not sure they got the right "sexuals".
