Lake Arrowhead on a Spectacular Summer Day

As previously mentioned the Mrs. and I took a 75 mile drive up to Lake Arrowhead today to enjoy a little cool mountain air. Only one problem - it was just as warm at 5,500 feet in Arrowhead as it was back home. It was in the high 80's at both locations. Because Arrowhead is well inland and right above the steamy San Bernardino area, it doesn't cool off at altitude as much as you'd hope. Oh well.

It was a spectacularly beautiful day up there, despite the warmth. Here are a couple photos of the lake:

As mentioned in the previous cellphone post, we decided to take the 50 minute narrated boat tour, something we haven't done for more than 20 years. Here's the Mission Viejo Queen in the foreground, and the Arrowhead Queen in the back.

The boat holds up to 65 people, but we had a nice quiet cruise with lots of empty space (with the exception of the three-year old sitting near us who periodically decided to get upset and scream about something).

From the boat you get wonderful views of the many mansions which line the shores of this private lake.

Here a view of Arrowhead Village as we head back to the dock.I just had to get one more shot of the lake, this one taken from the village in an area where they have some kid stuff like a merry-go-round and a go-cart track.
Last December we brought the whole family up here for a day. It was 55 degrees colder that day. Today wasn't too bad.
