Trains at San Clemente Beach

We took a nice long walk from North Beach in San Clemente to the San Clemente pier and back (a little over a mile each way). The cliffside trail runs right along the water and next to the Amtrak line. Here are a few shots I took along the way.

A southbound Amtrak Surfliner passes along the beach next to the San Clemente Pier.
A northbound Surfliner approaches the Metrolink station at North Beach.
A southbound Metrolink passes by my perch on the elevated walkway between the beaches.
Sunset at San Clemente Beach.

Speaking of trains, we'll spend much of Thursday on one. We have an errand we need to handle for my father-in-law who lives in Santa Paula. We'd normally drive up there, which takes about 2 hours each way on the weekend. However, weekdays are much worse and we decided to hop the Amtrak up to Oxnard and have him pick us up there. We'll ride home later in the afternoon.

We'll probably spend about 6 hours on the train, but it beats the heck out of driving through L.A. traffic.
