Oprah In Turmoil, Doesn't Want to Book Sarah Palin

Wednesday night my wife said to me that if Barack Obama wasn't the Dem nominee Sarah Palin is the type of person Oprah Winfrey would trumpet on her show. A self-made success who has it all - family, career, interesting hobbies, etc., just the kind of example to other women that Oprah loves.

This morning I see this on Drudge:
OPRAH BALKS AT HOSTING SARAH PALIN; STAFF DIVIDED
I'll post the actual story once Drudge gets it up, but let's just say I'm not surprised. Oprah has fully bought into the Obamessiah mythology and exposing her millions of viewers to Sarah Palin could damage the cause.

I'll bet she never has her on the show, despite the ratings bonanza it would be. Oprah is not interesting in celebrating conservative women.

UPDATE: Here's the story:
Oprah Winfrey may have introduced Democrat Barack Obama to the women of America -- but the talkshow queen is not rushing to embrace the first woman on a Republican presidential ticket!

Oprah's staff is sharply divided on the merits of booking Sarah Palin, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

"Half of her staff really want Sarah Palin her on," an insider explains. "Oprah's website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama."

One executive close to Winfrey is warning any Palin ban could ignite a dramatic backlash!

It is not clear if Oprah has softened her position after watching Palin's historic convention speech.

Last year, Winfrey blocked an appearance by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, timed to a promotional tour of his autobiography.

Oprah and executive producer Sheri Salata, who has contributed thousands of dollars to Obama's campaign, refused requests for comment.
Having Sarah Palin on in the next couple of weeks would give her some of if not the highest ratings in her history. How are her advertisers going to feel when they realize that she's turning down a guest who would bring millions of eyeballs to see their ads? And how are the more conservative and independent women in her audience going to react to such a blatant snub?

I love seeing liberals in turmoil. You may think the Oprah show is about empowering women, it's not. It's about empowering liberal women.

UPDATE: Oprah won't book Palin...until after the election:
Oprah has issued a statement to TMZ -- she won't put Sarah Palin on her show until after the election.

And when Oprah calls, Palin should tell her to stick it up her 'fro. According to Rasmussen this morning, Palin is now more popular than either McCain or Obama.

TMZ is running a poll on whether Oprah's decision is "fair" or "bias". With almost 20,000 votes "bias" is winning with 79% of the vote.
