The other day I was critical of the way the McCain camp responded to the lipstick comment. I thought they were overplaying their hand and would have done better just to sit back and let their supporters lead the charge on the outrage.
Yesterday surrogate Carly Fiorina was asked about the SNL routine featuring Tina Fey and she described it as "sexist". That was a mistake.
Republicans do not need to play the victim card everytime somebody picks on Palin or McCain. We're mature, big people, and it's not necessary to get our undies in a wad just because some TV comedian takes a few cheap shots. I personally thought the bit was pretty funny, and Fey's impersonation was strikingly good, though playing Palin as a ditz wasn't really fair and certainly isn't accurate. However, it's comedy, not a documentary.
Please, McCain campaign, don't worry about these petty jabs from the entertainment crowd. Take the high road and you'll automatically make your critics look to be small and petty.
