John Coale, a prominent Washington lawyer, husband of Fox TV host Greta Van Susteren and a supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton, announced today that he was supporting John McCain for president. Coale, who traveled with Sen. Clinton, President Clinton and her family through out the primary season, complained of sexism, and said the Democratic Party is "being taken over by the moveon.org types" in an exclusive interview with Newsweek.com's Tammy Haddad.I read somewhere that Hillary plans to step up her campaigning for Obama because of fears that Palin will strip former Hillary voters away from Obama. I wonder, however, if her heart's really in it?
Hillary is in a tough spot. It's in her best interest to see Obama lose so she can be set-up to run in 2012. If Obama wins, she's probably locked out until 2016 when she'll be 68 years old.
However, now there's a new player in the race for first woman president and should McCain win, Sarah Palin would have an advantage going into 2012 should McCain choose not to run again. After four years as VP the whole experience issue will be off the table.
I think Hillary will put on a good show of supporting Obama because she doesn't want to get blamed for his loss, but it will be half-hearted at best.
