The Crucifixion of Joe the Plumber

I have to feel a little bit bad for Joe Wurzelbacher right now. He's the suddenly famous "Joe the Plumber" who got more attention in last night's debate than anyone. Today he finds himself talking to the morning shows and spotlighted in every political site and show out there, but he is also about to be crucified by the wacky left. It's already started.

Politico reports that he had a tax lean against him. The Toledo Blade is after both his voter registration (he is registered as a Republican), and his licensing as a plumber. Politico has also decided he's a racist because he compared Obama's wordplay as a "tapdance even better than Sammy Davis Jr.".

Joe Biden tried to get after him on Good Morning America, stating that he didn't know any Joe the Plumbers in his neighborhood who made $250,000. Wurzelbacher doesn't make $250,000 - he wants to make $250,000 and he doesn't want his success punished. And I guarantee you there aren't any plumbers living in Biden's neighborhood. The only plumbers that show up around there are fixing rich women's spa tubs.

Byron York adds this warning for Joe:
I don't know anything about Joe Wurzelbacher, but I just have one bit of advice. If you have anything in your past that you're not proud of — a messy divorce, a DUI, an unpaid bill, an indiscreet comment, whatever — be prepared for it to become public knowledge. The lefty blogosphere, along with allies in the press, will see to that.

Why is this guy such a threat to Obama and the left? Because he's the only guy who has dared to use the word that Obama fears most: Socialism. And he explained it in a way that millions of middle Americans can understand. He's an unapologetic supporter of his country and the American spirit and wants to see success rewarded and not punished by excessive taxation. And to Joe, and millions of other Americans, it doesn't matter whether that success is a small plumbing company or Microsoft.

And that makes him a threat to the left that must be squashed. Let's hope Joe can take the heat. So far, he's done great.

UPDATE: Joe had a press conference outside his home this morning. Enjoy:

UPDATE 2: The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractor's Association has Joe's back.

UPDATE 3: The union, however, is out to get him.
