We spent most of Sunday at the Western Band Association Finals in Pleasant Hill where the top 15 bands performed one more time. I got something wrong in the prelim report - the scores are not cummulative, but start over with the Finals program.
Mission Viejo did the best performance of their year achieving their highest score of the season, but unfortunately powerhouse Logan again won the top spot. Mission finished a close second, but did win the percussion championship. I grabbed a quick shot of the boy with his new medal, though the feather from his hat is blocking it:
We stayed long enough to see Senior Circle, a very special moment at the end of the marching season. All the seniors gather in the center and the rest of the band surrounds them and performs the competition show for them. It's a fitting salute to the seniors who have just completed their final marching season (and a tear jerker for parents of seniors).
We'll be launching out of here early Monday morning for the six hour trip home. Hopefully, I'll get back to a more regular blogging schedule once I get there.
