Fisherman's Wharf

We took the family over the Golden Gate into San Francisco today to do a little tourist-trapping at Fisherman's Wharf. Traffic into town was surprisingly light. I had been warned that the day after Thanksgiving can be pretty rough in SF, but no problem this morning.

The big Christmas tree us up at Pier 39, so we stopped to take a couple of shots with a foggy city in the background:

We had a celebrity sighting while we there - Disney stars Nemo and Dory:No autographs, please.

They were spotted in the Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39. It's kind of a neat place, but be advised, it will cost you about $13 to get in (with the discount you get in the parking garage or at your hotel), and you'll be able to see the whole place comfortably in about 30 minutes. Kind of pricey, but they do have a number of cool exhibits, including two long tunnels you walk through with various critters swimming around you.

We also walked along the waterfront and I took a couple of shots of the local sights:

On our way out of town we decided to go up to the top of the hill and drive famous Lombard Street. The road uphill feels like it's straight up, and the car in front of us had a manual transmission. She kept winding the engine way up and slipping the clutch painfully while sliding backward. I see some clutch repairs coming soon.

Interesting note - I've visited SF a number of times in the last two years and this was the first time I didn't see a single antiwar or political protest of any type.
