The Mouse is Grumpy

In response to the news that the Governator wishes to apply the state's sales and use tax to theme park tickets, Disney is fighting back:
Disneyland is predictably angry about Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s plan to tax theme park tickets and tickets to sporting events to reduce state revenue shortfalls.

“We oppose the Governor’s proposed theme park tax because it unfairly targets the tourism industry and may deter new visitors to the Golden State at a time we need them most,” said resort spokeswoman Lisa Haines in an e-mail statement.

“This tax is not worth the risk to an industry that is a proven job creator and economic engine for California’s growth.”

The folks at Disney are right. Adding costs to an already expensive trip is not the way to attract much needed out-of-state dollars and the tourists that bring them. We're going to do our part to help the Disney economy and go eat dinner over there tonight.
