The ramp continues to the base of the Arc and then heads straight up:
Here's a closer view:
The approach ramp is the skinny one on the right. I think the larger ramp will be used when he comes back down off the top. I just hope he doesn't leave a big red mark on the side of the Arc.
I continued my walk down to The Mirage where Robby Knievel is supposed to jump his bike over the volcano. Of course, he's the son of Evel Knievel who famously crashed his bike trying to jump the fountains at Caesar's Palace. There weren't nearly as many signs of preparation down there as there was at Paris. They were just starting to put together the ramp for that jump:
That big pile of rocks is the volcano. It wasn't erupting when I went by there at 10 this morning.
On the way there I passed The Flamingo, and it's just a little disconcerting to look up and see the giant heads (and teeth) of Donny and Marie Osmond smiling down on you from the side of the building:
I don't know if that's good luck or bad.Lots more walking today as we head to the south end of the Strip where you can visit old Hollywood, New York, England, Egypt and the South Pacific. Only in Vegas.
