Chrysler to idle all of its assembly lines for at least a month. Strikes me as prudent. Last I read, the company was sitting on something like 12,000 vehicles that its dealerships didn't want.
Surveys find that the public would still buy cars from a company in Chapter 11. That takes away one of the automakers' strongest arguments for why Washington should help them avoid Chapter 11.
Of course, Congress plans to force the auto companies to waste more money on "green" projects which will ensure that Chrysler has a lot more cars their dealerships don't want.
