Dems: Don't Appoint a New Senator

The Dems are heading for the tall grass after Gov. Blago from Illinois tried to sell Obama's Senate seat:

CHICAGO (AP) - President-elect Barack Obama called for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to resign on Wednesday, hours after the embattled governor reported for work amid charges he plotted to sell Obama's vacant Senate seat. Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are warning Blagojevich not to name a replacement for Obama, hinting they may refuse to allow his choice to take the Senate seat.

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said the president-elect agrees with other prominent politicians in Illinois and elsewhere that "under the current circumstances, it is difficult for the governor to effectively do his job and serve the people of Illinois."

In a draft letter being circulated for signatures, top Senate Democrats asked Blagojevich to resign as governor and "under no circumstances" attempt to name a successor for Obama. The AP obtained a copy of the letter. ...

In Washington, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., made it plain he didn't want to seat anyone under such a cloud, saying the charges "are appalling and represent as serious a breach of the public trust as I have ever heard."

And given Reid's history of shenanigans in Nevada, he's heard some doozies.

Blago could have a little fun and name some complete moron to the post (oh wait, he was probably going to do that anyway).
