Working Americans

I had another interesting moment yesterday while waiting for the wife and daughter to finish their shopping (besides my conversation with Morty). I was waiting in an area where they had a TV tuned to CNN and Lou Dobbs' show was on. A panel discussion was underway regarding the auto bailout and and reaction to it by Republicans and others. Dobbs asked why this bailout was being handled differently than the previous bailouts for the financial industry, and one panelist who was a Democrat activists (I didn't get his name) said the Republicans were balking this time because this was the first bailout that involved "working Americans".

Dobbs, to his credit, immediately jumped in and corrected the Democrat, reminding him that the 35,000 people who will be laid off from Bank of America in the next two years, not to mention thousands of others in the financial industry who are not high-paid executives are also "working Americans". Apparently, to Democrats, you're not a "working American" unless you're a union member from unions that contribute heavily to the Dem party.

Republicans need to remember that and should never let the Dems get away with demeaning those who work in industries other than union labor.
