Pastor Rick Warren today called on attendees at Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Atlanta to give their service to God during a Martin Luther King Commemorative Service.
“Are you available?” he asked. “The reason God used Martin Luther King is he was 100 percent available to God. God is looking for people to use. If you're useable, he'll wear you out.”
“Martin Luther King was a vital tool in the hand of God,” Warren said. “He was a model for hundreds of millions. But God isn't finished. Just as this is a continuing journey.”
Before Warren spoke, dozens of gay activists protested his involvement in the commemorative service. Warren opposes gay marriage. A woman who cried out at the beginning of Warren's speech was escorted out of the church.
This will probably now be the pattern wherever Rick goes, and that's too bad, because he has a lot of good things to say that don't need to be interrupted by some dummy who can't sit still in church. My kids learned that at a very early age. These people are apparently incapable of learning that.
