Obama Liberal Personality Disorder

After hearing the petty snipes at President Bush in the inaugural address, hearing the conduct of the Obama partisans toward Bush at yesterday's event, and seeing the petty snipes at Bush in the new White House website, I think I've identified a new personality disorder: Obama Liberal Personality Disorder (OLPD). Sufferers are found to have the following symptoms:

Supreme self-righteousness coupled with crushing insecurity and barely controlled anger.
OLPD is characterized by a lack of graciousness toward those who disagree with you. The inaugural address was a time for grace, but instead was marred with snide asides at the Bush administration. OLPD sufferers cannot show humanity to those they disagree with because they do not believe their opponents possess humanity. Their foes are soulless zombies enslaved by conservative philosophies and are incapable of understanding the nuances of the real world. Only they are the enlightened ones.

They are unfazed by facts, because facts that do not support their belief system simply cannot be facts. They are supremely confidant in their ignorance.

That explains the self-righteousness, but how does crushing insecurity come into the mix? Just watch them as they make this little snide comments or sing their "na-na-na-na" songs at Bush. Their eyes flit among each other desperately looking for approval from their peers.

"Look at me, I'm bashing Bush too! I'm one of you....please! I too am clever and enlightened!"

It's as though they are privy to the secret code of OLPD. A critical comment from a fellow traveler at that moment would be all it would take to reduce them to a quivering mass. They are an emotional house of cards.

And what about the anger? We saw that yesterday when The One transformed himself from the campaigner who lifted hearts and minds with soaring speeches into a dull, droning bureaucrat slipping snarky asides about Bush into his speech. We saw it again today in Obama's first presidential press statement in which he practically spat as he discussed all the changes his executive branch would make to undo the evil Bush administration.

The lefties have been angry ever since Bush beat them in 2000 and 2004. They fumed during the entire Bush years about Iraq and created all sorts of fables about the purported wrongdoings of Bush and Cheney. They woke up each day longing for an impeachment they never got. I guess you could call it unrequited hate.

It looks like Obama will now turn that hate on himself by hamstringing his own administration with all kinds of new rules and regulations to prevent the kind of strong executive branch that Bush and Cheney left him. The poor attorney general will end up spending his time ruling on executive branch requests rather than enforcing the law.

Get used to it, because now they they have assumed power in Washington we can expect these OLPD symptoms to manifest themselves daily. There is a cure, but don't expect them to seek it. When your leader is the Messiah you don't think you can ever be ill.
