Reporter Grabbed For Trying to Get Obama's Autograph

We've known for a long time that the media was slavishly attracted to Barack Obama, but this is a little ridiculous:
A reporter was escorted out of a White House event by Secret Service agents on Wednesday afternoon after he approached President Obama to seek an autograph.
At the end of an East Room signing ceremony for legislation funding the State Children's Health Insurance Program, an unidentified member of the media jumped the rope penning off reporters from invited guests in an apparent attempt to get Obama's autograph, according to a White House aide.

Secret Service agents swooped in and stopped him.
This guy was not a regular part of the White House press corps, but apparently had a temporary day pass which reporters can get if they don't have a regular White House beat. I'm wondering whether this guy was a reporter at all?

He certainly didn't get the memo about fawning over Obama in public. That's strictly for the private bull sessions at the bar when the media's work day is over.
