Dow Opens Below 7,000

Welcome to 1997. Don Surber has the gory details:
Well, Democrats said electing Barack Obama would return us to the halcyon days of Bill Clinton.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened at 9,323.89 on the day he was sworn in to office.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened at 8,279.63 on the day he was sworn in to office.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened at 7,056.48 today, and fell to 6,918.05 within minutes.

In the 4 months since his election, the Dow has lost 35% of its value, and in his first 6 weeks as president, it has lost 15% of its value.

The Dow has fallen and it cannot get up.

For those who are furiously trying to come up with a spin that will blame this on Bush, let us not forget that the Dow represents investors betting on the future, not the past. The investor class is looking at confiscatory tax rates, bigger, bloated government, bailouts as far as the eye can see, and a government that believes in punishing achievement and rewarding failure.

Look out belooooooowwwww!
