We took a couple of drives today to check out and enjoy the local scenery. I hate the politics up here, but love the area. There are lots of farms and open land, unlike Orange County which is so fully developed about the only open land you'll find is school playgrounds.
We headed to Sonoma first to look around the shops on the town square. While driving the backroads to get there I stopped and took a shot of a field covered with wild mustard plants that are blooming right now. The brilliant yellow flowers can be seen everywhere:After picking up our daughter we headed up to Healdsburg, about 30 miles north. Some friends had told us that it was an interesting town to visit. Here the ladies are ready to head to lunch:
Healdsburg has a town square like Sonoma with one big difference. In Healdsburg the local Mexican day laborers hang out there looking for work. I didn't see any of that in Sonoma. I took some shots around the square, including a giant sequoia right in the middle of the park:
The faculty concert is tonight and then the long drive home tomorrow. More pictures later.
