The Perfect 10

No, we're not talking about Bo Derek running on a beach somewhere, but a collection of entrees at a fine dining restaurant. I don't normally do restaurant reviews, but I'll make an exception for this one.

The guy who cuts my hair told me that Savannah Chop House in Laguna Niguel had started a special $10 menu to help folks out during the current tough times. The dinners normally run in the $20+ category, so I wasn't sure what you'd get for $10. He highly recommended it, so we went there last night.

Wow.

We got lucky when our 45 minute wait turned into 5 minutes thanks to a cancellation, and we ate on the patio overlooking the coastline and watched the sun set over the hills.

Here's the "Perfect 10" menu from the restaurant's website:

My wife had the Filet Mignon (she's a big time carnivore), and I had the Halibut. The Filet was good sized and the tenderest I've ever seen. I had a big piece of Halibut with veggies in a tasty sauce. Lots of food for $10 (and it also comes with sourdough bread). Since dinner was so inexpensive we also got a dessert - a wonderful chocolate cake with berries, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate sauce.

Excellent food, great atmosphere, great service and a terrific value all around. I highly recommend it for anyone in South Orange County.
