Whose Money Is It Anyway?

You may think this is another Porkulus post, but no, this time we venture into the world of celebrities. I saw this item on Fox and had an immediate problem with it, but probably not for the reason you might think:
Jennifer Aniston likes her long, honey-colored locks parted down the middle in a simple, no-fuss style.

Too bad the laidback look runs the actress a whopping $50G to achieve.

Indeed, the “effortless” look – long, California-girl style tresses, parted style with a few face framing layers – has been the actresses’ signature look for years. And who doesn’t love how Aniston’s look makes her seem approachable, as if she were your beautiful, yet unpretentious neighbor.

Simple? Yes.

Relaxed? Yes.

Cheap? Hardly.

According to a report in Britain’s Daily Mail, Aniston just couldn’t accept less than the best, and insisted upon flying her stylist Chris McMillan around with her during her press tour for the London premiere of “Marley and Me.”

Each styling session alone runs the star $2,000. But tack on a first class plane ticket from Los Angeles to London, an all-expenses-paid stay for seven-days at London’s posh hotels, and you’ve got yourself a $50G hairdo.

The prices left us wondering, for as many soap-box political speeches and complaints about the economy, do stars really feel the economic crunch, or is a $50G haircut all in a days work?

The article then goes on in a mocking way to describe all the cheap places she could get her hair done. Fine.

Here's my problem - it's her money. She earned it and she can spend it any way she wants, even it if seems excessive. Granted, to most average folks it's ridiculous to spend $50,000 on hair, but apparently it was worth it to her and she could afford it.

I don't like seeing wealth ridiculed just because somebody doesn't agree with how someone else spends theirs. Jealousy is not an attractive trait in people, or in news stories.

It's her money.
