THE speed with which President Obama has pushed his Return to Big Government is astonishing. History compels him to get his agenda passed while the wind is in his favor, and Democrats hold the House.
Presidents lose House seats in their first midterm election. Only Franklin Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnson and George W. Bush gained House seats in their first mid-term election.
The only two times in my lifetime that the House flipped to the other party were in the midterm elections of 1994 and 2006. The biggest factor in those flips was scandal. Democrats in 1994 and Republicans in 2006 were seen as crooks.
Obama's midterm could be 1994 all over again.
He'll remain popular. His party might not.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she would "drain the swamp" when she took over two years ago. But all I have seen her party do is muddy the water.
Read the rest of it here. He cites chapter and verse on the scandals which will give the GOP plenty of ammunition next year.
