Breaking news this morning is that The One made a previously unannounced trip into Baghdad on his way home from Turkey. Bush famously traveled to Baghdad for Thanksgiving in 2003, though he came all the way from Crawford, TX without anyone but a selected few knowing about it until it was over.
According to news reports various Iraqi ministers had been talking about an Obama visit for days, so apparently this trip was not as secretive as it might be reported. Of course, secrets are not as important in Iraq these days. Bush's trip came at a very dangerous time in that country.
Nowadays, you could almost fly Air Force One in there in the daylight without too many worries.
I wonder why? Maybe it's because we won.
