"You've had your fair share of critics. Rush Limbaugh said this administration fails. He just wants the country to fail. To me that's treason. He's not saying anything different than what Osama Bin Laden is saying. You might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight... Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that's what he needs.First of all, just try and imagine any conservative in a similar setting wishing that some lefty would die? It's highly unlikely that it would ever happen, and if it did that person would be excoriated by the press and politicians alike.
However, her lame attempt at appeasing the left doesn't really matter because she demonstrated in the second sentence that she never understood what Rush said. He never said he wanted America to fail. He wanted Obama to fail. There is a difference. I guarantee you that nobody on the left would have confused the failure of George Bush with the failure of America. They understood the difference.
However, the lefty echo chamber insists the Rush wants America to fail so that has become the talking point. If they admit the real meaning behind the statement their jokes blow up.
It's no different than the notion that Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her house. Of course, she never said that. Tina Fey said that, but it's become common knowledge that Palin said it in order to foster the idea that she's an idiot. The left can't handle the truth.
So, how should Rush respond? With a blistering attack of his own? No. My guess is he'll point out that Sykes never understood his statement to begin with and therefore isn't worth his time. We'll see on Monday.
