Night at the Museum - Battle of the Smithsonian, a Review

Last night we went to see the sequel to the very successful "Night at the Museum" movie starring Ben Stiller. The new movie, Night at the Museum-Battle of the Smithsonian, moves most of the action to the Smithsonian complex in Washington D.C. where former night guard Stiller has to once again save his museum-display friends who come to life every night thanks to an ancient Egyptian tablet.

If you liked the first one, you'll enjoy this one too. The effects are not a surprise this time as they were in the first movie, but they're well done. Having visited the Smithsonian museums a couple of times it was fun seeing familiar locations and displays as they came to life.

Amy Adams plays Amelia Earhart, the pioneering woman aviator, who in real life was not near as attractive as Adams. The love interest sparked in this movie probably wouldn't have happened had they used a true lookalike for Earhart.

Robin Williams and Owen Wilson are back as Teddy Roosevelt and Jedediah Smith. Bill Hader plays a rather daft George Custer, and Hank Azaria is pretty funny as the evil lisping Egyptian Kahmunrah (as well as voicing The Thinker and Abe Lincoln).

It was an enjoyable couple of hours and worth the ticket price (especially if you have discounted Costco tickets like we did).
