Air France Had a Bomb Threat in South America Five Days Ago

As they begin to locate wreckage from the Air France flight that disappeared over the Atlantic, this information is coming out about a bomb threat on May 27th:
The airport safety delayed an Air France flight this evening before departring for Paris immediately after the company received a bomb threat over the phone at the airport of Ezeiza.

The Federal Police, along the Firemen’s direction and the Airport’s Safety proceeded to inspect the plane, that arrived this morning from the French city and, after a brief stop, it was preparing to return.

Given that most of the aircraft is hundreds or thousands of feet underwater, determining the actual cause is going to depend on what they're able to recover.

One theory I've seen circulated is that the plane suffered an electrical failure while transiting an area full of large thunderstorms - as much as 50,000 feet high. An electrical failure at that point, at night, would knock out the plane's weather radar system leaving the pilots blind in the middle of massive storms. Without the radar to help guide them to the weaker sections of the storm, they could have flown right into the core where you'll have updrafts and downdrafts as much as 100 mph or more. They would have torn the plane to pieces very quickly.

And then again, there's always the possibility of a bomb.
