- AFSCME, a large gov't union, is calling for $44 billion in new CA taxes.
- AFSCME's Willie Pelote put out the tax list in an attempt to get Dems to sign on to the economy crushing taxes
- 1. $6 billion gas tax
- 2. $1.6 billion sales tax
- 3. $1.4 billion alcohol tax ($0.10 a drink)
- 4. $400 million Amazon.com tax (when NY did this, Amazon left, leaving $0 tax)
- 5. $620 million from biz reporting of purchases from out of state
- 6. $2 billion from mandatory tax withholding on independent contractors
- 7. $1.5 billion from higher property taxes on commercial properties
- 8. $4 billion from higher income taxes (we're already #1 overall in U.S.)
- 9. $18.8 billion from higher sales taxes (extend taxes to services)
- 10. $1 billion from higher oil taxes (we're 5th highest now, this makes us #1)
- 11. $2 billion from higher vehicle license fees
- 12. $1 billion by hiking business taxes to 9.84% (11% more than today's 8.84%)
- 13. $600 million by hiking Subchapter S corporations tax
- I'm not even half way through the $44 billion union tax wish list and I think I'm having a stroke

- 14. $410 million by limiting net operating loss carry forwards
- 15. $400 million by raising taxes on commercial property exchanges
- 16. $100M by raising taxes on multinational companies (might they just leave?)
- 17. $400M by killing Enterprise Zones (weren't they suppose to employ the poor?)

- 18. $300M by taxing research and exploration (this is real stoopid)
- 19. $290M by penalizing research and development
- 20. $146M by taxing new equipment purchases (isn't this how people get hired?)

- 22. $70M in higher taxes on leasing of films and tapes (Hollywood will love this)
- 23. $70M in higher taxes on custom software (great, let's do it all in India!)
- 24. $65 million in higher taxes on corporate stock and asset sales
- 25. $55 million more taxes on small business capital gains
- 26. $250 million more taxes by withholding on independent contractors
- 27. $2.5 billion tax hike on a bunch of various items
- 28. $21 million in new taxes on oil companies (we have the #1 gas tax in U.S.)
- 29. $730 million in death taxes
- 30. $85 million in taxes on home loans
- 31. $265M by killing corporate operating loss carry backs
- There you have it: $44 billion in "helpful" union suggestions to raise our CA taxes. Any question what's at stake?

California Unions Demand New Taxes
State Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, who's planning to run against Barbara Boxer for Senate next year, used Twitter today to send out the shopping list of taxes that AFSCME, a large government union, wants the Democrats to enact to save their union jobs. It's a staggering list of 31 new taxes amounting to $44 billion dollars of California taxpayer's money. Here's the list as tweeted by DeVore:
