A Couple of Random Thoughts

While waiting at the Detroit airport this morning I saw a couple of items on CNN that spurred random thoughts:

1. I heard an interview with the lawyer of the lady who called 911 on Henry Louis Gates in Cambridge, MA. She was hired to try and save the reputation of the caller who has been accused of racism by some. Are we all going to need to hire lawyers when we call 911 to report suspicious activity? Or will we just stop calling?
2. I heard an item that suggested Congress is considering a new tax on health insurance companies to pay for Obamacare. At the same time the president is mocking the companies and asking "why are they afraid of a little competition?" Well, if your competitor has the ability to levy new taxes on you and increase your cost of doing business, you probably should be afraid.
