Frankenmuth

On Saturday, the day after the wedding, we decided to head up to Frankenmuth, MI, otherwise known as Michigan's Little Bavaria. We drove the 60 miles north under threatening skies.

Frankenmuth is quite a tourist town and is also the home of Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland, the world's largest Christmas store. We had seen this place on The Travel Channel and thought it would be fun to visit. It's almost Christmas overload when you walk in:

They'll get you a tree in pretty much any color you want. It takes quite awhile just to walk through the place.
The town has a cruise boat that runs on the Cass River around town. Looked like fun, but because of the weather we didn't make the trip.
We'd been told to eat at one of the two big places on Main Street. We chose the Bavarian Inn because my daughter wanted to get some good German food. As you can see from the shot the skies were blue when we went in, but off the west a dark line of thundershowers was approaching. When we came out it was thundering and raining, and of course our umbrellas were in the car 1/2 mile away.
After the showers passed we walked around the area, did a little shopping, and took some more photos.
