A Magical Night

For my wife's birthday we did a couple of special things in the evening. First we headed over to the Rio for dinner and the Penn & Teller show. Great show - well worth the money (especially since we had 2-for-1 tickets for the whole family). Penn Jillette is a debunker of all things supernatural (he's an atheist, though that doesn't come through in the show with the exception of some comical portrayals of Teller's sainthood). He's also a staunch libertarian and makes quite forceful pronouncements about the Bill of Rights and the importance of our liberties. His bit about the TSA is pretty good and right on the mark.

The also did the bit about burning the American flag that I saw them do on The West Wing a few years ago. Another good object lesson regarding our liberties under the Bill of Rights.

After the show the 6' 7 " Penn took a photo with the birthday girl:
Interesting side note - as he was accomodating all the fans who wanted pictures and autographs he called everyone "boss" = "Hiya boss", "Thank you boss", etc. I don't know if that's just an easy way to talk to everyone, or if it was a sign of respect for the fans who pay his salary. It worked either way.

Once we finished at the Rio we fought through the construction traffic to get back to the Strip in time to catch a couple of fountain shows at Bellagio. Here we are as the show goes on behind us:

And I just thought this was a cool shot of the moon rising behind Paris Las Vegas:

Tomorrow we head over to Primm for one more night on the road at Buffalo Bill's.
