During his speech at a National Press Club luncheon, House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill.I believe Newt Gingrich was quoted as saying "if a bill is too complicated for the House Judiciary Committee chairman to understand, it's too complicated to work".
“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.
“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
Exactly.

At least John Conyers was honest about not understanding the bill. That's what I like -- an honest politician!!!
That's not even informed consent to sign something one has not read.
Poor baby, is the bill too long for his addled little brain? What, did Conyers read the Cliff Notes in college, instead of reading the assigned books in English class.
What a bunch of losers we have running this country.
After reading Conyers statement I think we might be ahead of the game if we elected school kids to run the government, at least they know how to read and most of them can comprehend what they read!
I read the bill. I'm not an attorney. I understood it. If Conyers needs help with the big words, I'm here for him. He should be fired.
