I've also reopened the site to anonymous comments. I would rather not, but to limit that would restrict comments only to people with Google or OpenID accounts. We'll see how that goes.
I personally don't like anonymous comments. I put my name on everything I write and I would hope commenters would be willing to do that too. If you're writing something you can't put your name on, maybe you shouldn't post it.
I will always look more critically at anonymous comments because they are often used to throw cheap shots, and I won't hesitate to delete them if they don't make the grade. As I said in my comment policy, there is no first amendment right to post comments on HolyCoast.com. It's a privilege, and one that the vast majority of you have used appropriately. As always, I welcome your feedback pro or con.

Thank you, Rick. I don't do Google or Open ID, but I can't see being "Anonymous". I'm Sam L.
Happy to see the comments open without requiring a Google or other account. I also do not prefer anonymous postings as it appears to be hiding behind a wall and lobbing a message over.
I put my name on everything I comment on, and I even provide the picture. Of course, I changed my picture after I was called a bigoted, racist, toothless old white woman! I got a big charge out of that, but now all you see, if you so desire, is a cute picture of me and my twin sister.
I'm glad you don't have the word verification. It is a pain!
I work in a veritable sea of Democrats, and with the current political climate, I am afraid to use my real name anymore...hence the moniker "Nightingale."
But won't chicken out to the point of "anonymous."
Thanks Rick; I've been champing at the bit to comment lately!
Thank heavens -- I thought it was only my lack of computer knowledge that prevented me from posting here.
I can't speak for other, but since the new format has been implemented, I have not been able to post comments.
I am not able to view the code word that needs to be typed before the post can be viewed.
