Over His Head

ABC News says Obama has a growing credibility problem with Americans:
The biggest problem for President Obama in today's ABC News/Washington Post poll is this: only 49 percent of Americans are confident that he'll "make the right decisions for the country's future" -- down from 60 percent in April.

Voters still like Obama. His overall job approval is steady at 57 percent. But they're screaming "listen to us" and "slow down." And they're worried he's getting in over his head.

Or 45% on Zogby and 48% on Rasmussen. ABC's sample seems to be a little heavy on rainbows and unicorns.

Actually, according to Hot Air the ABC sample has a 10-point gap between Democrats and Republicans. No wonder they're at 57%.

Of course Obama is "over his head". People have quickly forgotten that he's never run anything in his life. He went from college agitator to community organizer to state senator (after he maneuvered the incumbent out of the race) to U.S. senator (after his opponent was discovered to have a sex scandal) to president...all without actually doing anything. It was all based on appearance, personality, and speeches full of rhetorical flourish but empty of actual ideas.

The other thing that's "over his head" is the guy who's pulling his strings. We're still not sure who that is.

I think many people similar to him are locked up, they are close to being insane.

You read my mind.

I was thinking today -- and said so to my kid -- that I wish I could love this president. I really do.

Obama comes across as a kind, good man. Okay, not always. One sees a disquieting arrogance from time to time. But you know the moments I mean. Sometimes he flashes that smile that seems so genuine.

But while he talks great. Actions speak louder, and the actions are very confused, amateurish (Ipod for the Queen, apology tour, sort of thing)and I have wondered WHO sponsored this guy early on. In his early political manuevering, the off the radar stuff. We know next to nothing about the guy.

The Dems were always accusing Bush of being a dummy. Karl Rove and/or Cheney were supposed to be the brains behind the facade. But even Bush's most chilly critics learned that Bush was his own man. That much because clear even early in his presidency to those paying attention -- and should have been evident to absolutely everyone by the end of his 8 years.

Yet I notice that the Dems often go on to do the things they accuse their opponents of doing. Is that what happened this time? Is Obama a Wizard of Oz for someone or some group of puppeteers?

It seems loony to contemplate. Yet the Dems contemplated it for a long time. Did they try to do it? Worse, have they succeeded? I hate conspiracy theories, but ....

I'll trade my tin foil hat for a party hat any day. Somebody prove me wrong! I'd love it. But this smiling, seems-to-be-decent (sometimes) president is an empty suit. Alas.

Would that it weren't so.

A major factor in President Obama’s slide in today’s big Washington Post/ABC News poll, which is preoccupying the political classes today, is his surprisingly sharp drops among Democrats and even liberals, according to crosstabs that were sent my way.
