A controversial ad campaign featured in the Washington, D.C., metro area is comparing public school lunches across the country to what President Obama's daughters eat at their elite private school. This will come as a shock to those people who believe that we can't do anything without the government, but no child in this country is required to eat school lunch food. Parents actually have the right to make their own kids lunches and send with them whatever they want.
MyFOXDC.com reports that the ad, sponsored by Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine, shows an eight-year-old girl speaking about the "healthy" vegetarian lunch choices Sasha and Malia Obama have at Sidwell Friends -- a Quaker private school in Northwest Washington, D.C.
The girl then asks, "Why don't I?"
The ad also claims that children in public schools are more likely to be fed meat and cheese products, according to the station.
Shocking, isn't it.
And to answer the original question, my guess is the Obama parents pay out of their own pocket to feed their girls at Sidwell Friends School. Your kids might not go to Sidwell, but they can eat whatever you're willing to provide for them if you don't like what the school offers.
However, if you're going to make the taxpayers pay for it through some sort of school lunch program, then you better just shut up and be glad your kids have any food at all.
