Win One For Teddie!

How predictable was this?
Democrats are hoping that the memory of Sen. Ted Kennedy will revive the Democratic Party's flagging push for health care reform.

"You've heard of 'win one for the Gipper'? There is going to be an atmosphere of 'win one for Teddy,'" Ralph G. Neas, the CEO of the liberal National Coalition on Health Care, told ABC News.

Democrats are hoping that Kennedy's influence in death may be even stronger than it was when he was alive as they push for President Obama's top domestic priority. Democratic officials hope that invoking Kennedy's passion for the issue will counter slippage in support for heatlh care reform.

Just as with Paul Wellstone in 2002 Kennedy is more valuable to the party dead than alive and now they'll try to exploit the emotions some people may be feeling about his passing. Frankly, I think it's too late to really affect the debate.

Will Blue Dog Dems be more likely to vote themselves out of office because Teddy is Deady? Not likely.

The die hards will be more adamant, but it won't change the emotional level of the opposition. And that's going to be more important to the debate than a dead senator.

Sickening, as the "I'm With Mel" buttons that were passed out to voters in Missouri after Carnahan's death. Do it for Mel!

Thankfully, his wife (who was doing this campaigning before her son and husband were cold and in their graves??) was a one-term wonder.
