You Know You're in Northern California When...

...You find all these bumper stickers on the same car:

The car, a Scion XB, had seven other stickers on it but they weren't as entertaining.

I've noticed, as no doubt you have too, that if a vehicle has numerous bumper stickers, 95+% of the time they're leftist/liberal/anti-Bush stickers, NPR or "public" TV station stickers, Sierra Club, etc.

I've noticed the over the top quality of Bay area bumper stickers for years. Nothing new. . . been going on for quite a while now.

Those of us here in California's Antelope Valley who commute to "down below" (Los Angeles metro areas) for employment, etc. I think have found intolerance toward bumper stickers that promote Christian/conservative beliefs (Promise Keepers, Harvest Crusade, and even the simple "fish" symbol). I've noticed a lot more cars simply have no bumper stickers of any kind at all locally here anymore. People get too offended and emotional when they see anything they find offensive. So sad we can't find appropriate ways to dialogue. . . and have to live in fear that someone who might take offense might "key" a vehicle, get involved in "road rage" or do something else illegal and/or unsafe as an act of retaliation.

Too many people - outside of the Bay area, that is - just don't want to get into a conflict it seems. But if you're from the Bay area, you can drive anywhere with your anti-God, liberal bumper stickers and strut your opinions without any flack, it seems. I see these vehicles here where I live. . . they come with no fear or shame, it seems. Just an observation.
