You'll Have to Pay Up to Read FoxNews.com

So says Chairman Rupert Murdoch:
Chairman Rupert Murdoch said Wednesday that the company intends to charge for all of its news Web sites. "Quality journalism is not cheap, and an industry that gives away its content is simply cannibalizing its ability to produce good reporting," Murdoch said.
I can't think of a better present for Obama and the Democrats than this, because a lot of people (like me) will not pay a subscription fee for FoxNews.com.

Rahm Emanuel must be ecstatic.

You might remember that a couple of years ago the NY Times tried the same thing. They made a number of their columnists and feature writers part of a subscription service. That lasted a few months and was dropped when too few people subscribed. I think FoxNews.com is in for the same result.
