There have been a number of influences along the way. I first started listening to Rush Limbaugh about 1991 and he certainly validated much of my political thinking. Hugh Hewitt prompted me to get going with my own blog (as he inspired a great many other people I know), and one blog in particular helped me get started by providing an avenue where I could post links to my stuff for others to see. That blog was Little Green Footballs.
When I started LGF was right in the middle of exposing the Dan Rather National Guard story as a complete sham, and in fact my first post was on that subject. I regularly posted links in the Open Thread comments and they consistently drove traffic to my site and helped develop a core of readers.
Sadly, LGF went off the rails a year or so ago when he became obsessed with bashing "Creationists" and became a shill for the Obama administration. I, along with many others, no longer read what he has to say.
I'm thankful to those of you, from all political pursuasions, who make this a regular stop. If you've appreciated the effort and would like to "tip the server", your donations (through the link in the sidebar) are always appreciated.
Now, on to Year 6....

happy fifth anniversary of holy coast....enjoy your blog and your music....
Judi said it best, but conrats anyway.
Interesting about Charles Johnson.
I read his stuff, worked very hard to get the coveted license to comment, then a few months later found myself saying "Why am I here?!"
Now he is on the list (with Levi Johnson -- kin? -- and Andrew Sullivan. You know the list where I can't decide whether to call it "People I have no interest in hearing or hearing about" or "How could I have been so wrong?"
Here's to many many more years!....I also used to read lgf, came on the scene when he exposed the Hezballah photoshopping in Lebanon. Can't read him anymore. Others have come on the canvas who do one heck of a job reporting the real news events with great editorial - such as HolyCoast :)..Keep up the great work!
Happy Blogiversary!!!!
