Sen. Mike Johanns has proposed an amendment to block federal funding for a national organization that works to provide education and housing opportunities for low-income people.Ace reports that several Senators changed their vote from "NO" to "AYE" when they realized this amendment was going to pass. Profiles in courage.
Johanns' amendment would prohibit the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now from receiving funds from the current transportation and housing appropriations bill. Johanns cited 30 cases of voter fraud by ACORN workers.
"It's wrong to give tax dollars to a group with multiple convictions of undermining our democratic process and our laws," Johanns said Monday in a news release.
The seven who voted "NO" were Burris, Casey, Durbin, Gillibrand, Leahy, Sanders, and Whitehouse. If there are more videotapes coming showing ACORN abuses these seven will look pretty stupid.
What makes this all the more interesting is that for many people who rely on the mainstream media for their news, they'll have no idea why the Senate did this because the mainstream media hasn't been reporting the ACORN story.

It's about time our elected officials actually listened to us (the voters) and did someting we wanted. Thank you senators! You get my vote and support!
Thank God for young, intelligent thinkers like Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe for posing undercover at a Baltimore Acorn office. A brave and brilliant move on their part.
