Who's the Boss?

The Joe Wilson episode has revealed an astonishing lack of knowledge about how Congress and the Executive Branch are supposed to work, both from politicians and pundits alike.

First, look at this tweet from Jim Geraghty:
On Fox News, SC Dem chair contends the House floor has "the same sort of rules" as troops expressing political opinions in uniform. Uh, no.
The SC Dem chair is suggesting with his inane comment that Congressmen are in the chain of command under the president. Wrong. By that theory Obama can order Congress to do whatever he wants and they must obey without question. That doesn't seem to be happening.

And how about this comment from lefty talker Ed Schultz (from Radio Equalizer):
Ask yourself this question as you try to put this in perspective. Do you think it was professional? And ask yourself, if you acted like that in the workplace, how would that be received by your supervisor and do you think you'd be able to hang onto your job?
So, is Obama going to fire Joe Wilson for insubordination?

House rules, which Wilson is accused of violating, have no more standing in law than the rules of your local country club which say that men can't hit off the women's tees, though the country club can probably assess more sanctions. Today's vote will be a show trial, nothing more.

And I like this other tweet from Geraghty:
Today, 12 House members under investigation by the ethics committee will vote on a resolution condemning the mote in Joe Wilson's eye.
And another:
Joe Wilson sullied the venerated ground where members historically have respectfully beat each other with canes and fire tongs.
Indeed.

So much for the "separation of powers" in government. Yup, this is what happens when Dems run the school system. Time for a Civics lesson.
