Last week, my boss had to go on a business trip with his boss. They carpooled, and as is often the case, Boss 2 rented a car and Boss 1 rode along. I got to see them off in the rental Prius.Last December my sister and brother-in-law flew out here from Michigan to help us work on my father-in-law's house after he passed away. They rented a Prius at LAX because they thought it would be fun to have.
Well, kinda.
About a minute after they left the front door, I noticed they were still sitting out front. So I stuck my head out the door and made "shoo" gestures.
A couple of minutes later, they were still there. So I stuck my head out the door again.
Boss 2 rolled down the window. "Jay, go on Google and look up how to start a Prius!"
Apparently it was running when he got it, and he didn't know how to re-start it.
"No problem. Step one: GET A REAL CAR!"
After we had worked at the house for awhile it was time to go to dinner and as we waited in our idling car I watched the two of them in Prius sitting there for an awful long time. It turns out they couldn't figure out how to start it. Like the example above the car was "running" when they picked it up but no one showed them how to start it. It was pretty funny.

As conservatives, I think we should be careful not to go against stuff just because the Lefties like it. After all, what could be more conservative than conserving stuff? Protecting nature is by rights our issue, we're the ones reading Genesis.
That said, I think drivers need to look at their vehicle in terms of safety. To conserve fuel, one can always decide to make fewer trips in the car. But having seen what a little bitty collision at under 35 mph did to my big Chevy Impala, I for one will always vote for wrapping as much metal around me and my passengers as I can afford.
Happily, I can report that my latest Chevy gets very good gas mileage on the highway. At 65-70 mph it's practically perpetual motion.
The whole car wars thing is becoming just another form of political tit-for-tat. Anyway, here in bright blue Maryland, let me tell you, the Dems are driving SUVs, Hummers, and guzzlers galore. It's a veritable hypocrisy parade.
Remember, remember, remember that poll that has most people describing themselves as "conservatives" now. We are the common sense people. Preserving nature is our thing, and it's time we took it back from Greenpeace and the sanctimonious radicals.
But on the road, safety first.
I have a relative that has a Prius and these cars are quite dangerous in that they hardly make any noise when accelerating or stopping.
Pedestrains don't hear them, people walking in parking lots don't hear them, etc.
