Things I Miss

I was in a Denney's restaurant today in Lake Forest and they had a photo on the wall of the intersection of El Toro Road and Rockfield Drive taken in 1977. Something caught my eye and I snapped a cellphone shot of it:

It's a little hard to see, but the Mobil station at right was selling gas for $.57 cents a gallon self serve. It was $.61 cents for full serve.

We'll never see those prices again.

That same year, 1977, I remember regular unleaded gasoline selling for $.49 and 9/10 per gallon in Oceanside.

Orange County has always had higher gasoline prices. A function of higher income, eh?

58 cents a gallon was no bargain back then, but it sure is now! (grin)
