The Ultimate in Politically Correct Diseases

Without question, if you want a disease that's guaranteed to have the most politically correct support, get breast cancer:
The pink ribbon is designed to create breast cancer awareness. Is there anyone left who isn't aware? There is so much attention to this disease right now I'm guessing it will soon go the way of the red AIDS ribbon. Nobody wears them anymore.

I have no problem with this terrible disease getting much-needed attention, but there are other illnesses that kill just as many people but don't have the attention or have the happy survivor stories that breast cancer has. Those diseases could use the attention and money. Like this one.

Ann Althouse also has some thoughts about pink.

You are mistaken. This is their "cure." His camp loves symbolism. You see, symbolically, he's gotten rid of it. All gone. Poof!

More change and magic thinking you can believe in.

With all the news reports would it surprise anyone to know that heart disease kills more women than breast cancer?

Well, back here in the DC area, we can see a full frontal breast self-examination on WJLA-TV Channel 7. They will have this during the afternoon news and the early evening on Oct 29th.

It also just happens that Oct 29th is the start of sweep month for ratings.

Ann, keep the TV off.
